Sandy Quinn, Owner

owner/head tailor Sandy Quinn a woman with long hair and glasses

For nearly 15 years, I have worked as a professional seamstress, tailor, and pattern maker. I'm a proud member of the IATSE Local 764 (New York City) and Local 114 (Maine). Before opening my shop in Portland, Maine, I worked on Broadway and in New York’s film and TV industry. I have altered designer labels for celebrity clients, men’s and women's vintage from the 1930s to the 1980s, as well as wedding dresses and suits.

Equally skilled with both men’s and women's wear, I take great pride in my pattern development and garment construction. I'm a tailor with the eye and skill for perfectly fit garments and a draper who can take your sketch from paper to performance. I cherish delicate pieces and have the technical experience to handle complex garments, ensuring a perfect fit and a final product that makes you look and feel great.

Some of my past projects include head tailoring on The Penguin (Max), The Crowded Room (Apple TV), In the Heights (Warner Bros), and tick tick... BOOM (Netflix). I've built costumes for a diverse array of shows including Dickinson Seasons 2 and 3 (Apple TV), Jesus Christ Superstar Live! (NBC), and Fosse/Verdon (FX). Under the name of my studio, Threaded Pine, I just finished building costumes for Elf on Broadway and Don Giovanni at Santa Fe Opera. Visit my Custom Garments page to see a gallery of this work.
